The inspiration for this deck started as a tribute to the time in my life when my family lived in a small cabin in the Norwegian forest. It has since grown to reflect a more recent period, a personal fight that very much felt like being lost in the woods. My cancer diagnosis in 2018 came with an enormous feeling of loss and hopelessness, an anger and fear that grips my heart even today. The side of the card box features a quote by Robert Frost that helped guide me out of my own darkened wood, “The only way out is through”.
Look to the sky, past the trees, and find peace in the midnight hour. Let the stars guide you, let the trees now show you the way through.
The back illustration shows a view of the full moon and night sky through the trees, while the fronts feature custom pips and darkened court cards. The custom jokers feature an owl with an opened third eye holding a clock that is striking a specific time.
Designed by Phil Shaw. Printed by USPCC and fulfilled by Gambler’s Warehouse. The cards will be printed on USPCC custom grade paper with metallic silver ink.
